Working in northern Guatemala, the Coffee Trust places a priority on “from the ground up” community development. We help indigenous coffee farmers improve their agricultural practices, diversify their incomes, and raise healthy families.
Food 4 Farmers
Food 4 Farmers directly addresses food insecurity in coffee country. We help coffee-growing communities strengthen local food systems, promote sustainable farming practices, diversify family livelihoods, and cultivate local leadership.
Pueblo a Pueblo
Pueblo a Pueblo works in the coffee communities surrounding Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. With a multi-level approach, they seek long-term solutions to support child education, health and food security.
Grounds for health
Grounds for Health has a simple yet profound mission: reduce cervical cancer for women in developing countries. Access to this needed health care is one of the goals of the Coffeelands Foundation and we are proud to support Grounds for Health.
At Limitless Horizons Ixil, we believe that education is the cornerstone of creating a brighter future, both for the individual and for the community. In supporting academic and personal development and cultivating literacy skills, we pave the way towards a future of limitless opportunities and broad new horizons for the Ixil community of Chajul.
Projects
Organic School Gardens
Working with Pueblo a Pueblo on their Organic School Gardens project in Guatemala. The goal of the project is to educate every child about food, inspire families to grow food, and empower communities.
La Roya Recovery
Supporting the efforts of the Coffee Trust (www.coffeetrust.org) to help coffee farmers in the Ixil Region of northern Guatemala recover from the devastating effects of the Coffee Leaf Rust—La Roya.
Chiapas Beekeeping
Training for current and new beekeepers empowers producers to develop and strengthen an alternative source of nutrition and income for their families.
Maternal/Child Health
Providing financial support, health care and education to pregnant moms and their soon to be born babies during the most vulnerable periods of pregnancy and early childhood.
Primary Education Scholarship
Providing students in Guatemala with school supplies, free health checkups and emergency care at the local health clinic, money to cover extra school expenses like field trips, gym clothes and uniforms.
